*Note: There will be no Google Meets this week for English. If you would like to Google Meet to ask questions/talk through any assignments, please e-mail me and we can set up an appointment time.

Step 1: Please double check that you have completed all assignments in Google Classroom (finished the work and clicked "Turn in"). The best thing to do when you log into Google Classroom is to click on "Classwork" at the top to see your assignments list. It is the easiest/clearest page to see what you have and have not turned in yet.

I still have about 5 assignments left to grade and a lot of make-up work many students have e-mailed me about. You may notice my e-mail responses slow down or stop this week as I work to finish grades by Friday at noon. Thank you in advance for getting these last few assignments in before I grade them because I may not have time to go back and grade any late work for these with the deadline approaching.

Step 2: Sign my Virtual Yearbook? (OPTIONAL)

To my Pioneers,
Although this year didn’t end the way we planned, that doesn’t mean we can’t still sign each other’s yearbooks! This is my virtual yearbook page (attached), so if you have a message for me, please type it in one of the boxes in the document below. Feel free to use any font/color lettering you’d like! I can see everyone’s names in the version history, so thank you for keeping your messages school appropriate. :)
I also posted a clear copy of this document below so you can make a copy for yourself to share with your friends (or even staff/teachers). Just make sure you only share with friends you trust so you don’t get any inappropriate messages on your page. Then, when the year is done, you can print it and put it in your actual yearbook!
Thank you all for a wonderful, fun year. I’m going to miss each of you!!!
-Mrs. Flaherty

Steps 1 is due this Wednesday, 6/3/20 at Midnight so I have time to grade everything by Friday. Please remember to turn this assignment in Google Classroom (or mark it as done). I will be following up Wednesday morning with a video message. Thank you so much!
A lot of students have been asking about what we’re going to do for RC book reading/quizzes this quarter. Unfortunately, we don’t have access to the RC quiz program from home. So, we’ve come up with an alternative assignment. This quarter, you will only need to read ONE book of your choice (instead of our normal two), and instead of a quiz, you will be completing this “One-Pager” visual book report (attached).

You may have already read a book you had at home since Distance Learning began; if so, you can use that book for your "One-Pager."
If you haven't read a book yet, there are several ways you can get/choose a book listed in the attached video and presentation from our librarian, Mrs. Fulleman.

Once you've read your book, you can either do the "One-Pager" on a piece of paper, take a picture of it, upload it to Google Drive and then attach it to this assignment in Google Classroom.

OR

You can click "Create" to directly attach a Google Doc or Google Slide to this assignment to complete your "One-Pager" online/digitally.

If you have any questions, please e-mail me at: sflaherty@hartdistrict.org. Thank you!

Step 1: Please log-in/check-in to our Google Meet this MONDAY OR WEDNESDAY at 9 a.m. IF you want to read "The Diary of Anne Frank" play together (If you know you haven't earned credit for it yet in IC, you should definitely check-in; these will be your last 2 chances to read with us via Google Meet). We'll be reading Act 2, Scenes 4 and 5 this week (pp. 347-352), which will conclude the play! You won't need to log in both days this time, just one or the other as we'll be reading the same scenes/pages each day.

-If you need credit in IC still, and have technical difficulties either day this week, don't worry. Just e-mail me, and I'll take note of it.

-If you already got credit for reading with us and would prefer to read Act 2, Scenes 4 and 5 on your own, feel free. You can read it directly in your actual, physical textbook, or if you prefer to have it read to you, you can log in to your online textbook and play each page:

my.hrw.com
username = school e-mail
password = *flMMDDYY (star, first initial, last initial, month, day, year of your birthday)

Please be careful typing in your username/password, because it only gives you two tries and then locks you out. If this happens, let me know and I can try to get you back in via e-mail.

Step 2: When finished reading the play, please take the short quiz posted in Google Classroom on Wednesday. This will conclude our study of "The Diary of Anne Frank."

Step 3: Continue reading your free choice RC or other book (if you haven't already finished reading a book), and continue working on the One-Pager assignment due 5/29/20.

Step 4: If you are a Drabinski student, and haven't already, please remember to finish your Civil War Letter assignment in history. You'll be getting a small grammar grade in English AND a content grade in history for this assignment.

-Wolf students ran out of time to do this assignment, so your grade will show as EX for exempt/excused, and it will not affect your grade.

All of these steps are due this Friday, 5/22/20 at Midnight; however, I encourage you to do them during your Monday/Wednesday English blocks. Please remember to turn this assignment in once you've completed all the steps, and e-mail me if you have any questions. Thank you so much!
Please read the questions carefully, and answer them to the best of your knowledge. This is an open-book quiz, so you may use pp. 279-352 in your textbook. Good luck! :)
