Welcome back! We're starting off the year with a very exciting challenge. A new agenda for the 2016-2017 school year is being designed, and the cover is in need of three pictures including one vertical image, and two horizontal shots. Our theme for this week is "Life at Sierra Vista," and the three images that best capture school life will be chosen by our school administration and featured on next year's agenda cover!
Take a look at the design.
Next Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, so we'll have a long weekend and no meeting on Monday. All pictures will be due that Tuesday, Jan. 19th, by the end of the day. Capture shots that really show what school life is all about. What it looks like, feels like, what being a student at Sierra Vista is all about.
A few things to keep in mind.
- Try Not to take pictures of students.
I know that makes it tough, but you can take pictures of the back of students, a student with their head down, and crowds from far away where specific people aren't distinguishable. Also, aim for more candid shots rather than posed pictures, if you do include someone as the subject.
- Make sure to ask you teachers for permission to shoot in their classrooms, and/or to include them in your pictures.
- Try to use a hand held camera for a higher resolution picture. Cell phones can take great pictures, but it would be a good idea to borrow a camera from the club this week to ensure your picture is clear enough to be submitted for the agenda cover.
- Lighting, lighting, lighting! If you set up a picture indoors, make sure it is well lit; set up near a window for natural light, or use a flash (but natural light is preferable).
