Sierra Vista families who speak more than one language at home can use this page to learn more about the programs, resources, and services to help our EL students and families succeed. English Learner students have the dual challenge of learning English while learning through English, along with the asset of knowing two or more languages and cultures.

ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee)

The ELAC is a parent and school committee that supports our families who speak a language other than English at home. Additionally, it advises the principal, School Site Council and school staff on programs and services for English learners. Parents of English learners (ELs) together with other parents, staff and community members meet to learn about services and programs for English learners and offer advice to improve the education of ELs at our school. Parents of English learners have the right to:  

  1. Become informed and provide advice on programs and services for English learners

DELAC (District English Learner Advisory Committee)
The DELAC is a district-wide committee made up of representatives from each school’s English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). At least one ELAC parent representative volunteers and is voted as Sierra Vista’s parent representative. The purpose of the DELAC is to advise the district’s local Governing Board on programs and services for English Learners (EL), and to make decisions about what’s best for our English Learner educational programs.
