Hi Majestics,
This is your final assignment of 8th grade. This is an assignment you will not regret doing. The letter you will be writing will be to your future self and will be mailed to you in 2024 when you are a graduating high school senior. Please take the time and the care in writing this personal letter to yourself. I will be handling the addressing of your letter as long as you provide your mailing address on your letter. I will be printing, addressing, and sealing your letter for four years. This is my favorite assignment of the year and I hope you complete and turn this in, you won´t regret it!

Shh!!! Don’t leak this! I need your help Majestics!

You may not know this but Mrs Parkinson and Mrs Herr are retiring and next week is their final week teaching at Sierra Vista. I am so saddened by this news and I wanted to think of a positive way to send them off into retirement with appreciation of their years of teaching even though we have been quarantined. Here’s what I need from you!
I’m going to create a farewell video message assignment one for Mrs. Herr and one for Mrs. Parkinson. If you participate just record your goodbye message or tell them something you are going to miss or even advice of what to do in retirement. You can also turn in a written message if you put it in a google slide. Upload your video messages and written messages into the assignment and I will compile all video and written messages into a slide show to present to each of them on our final class Zoom which I’m going to invite them onto on our last class day. You can even invite your family in on the farewell message if you want.
So, can I count on each of you to submit a message? I will allow you to count each message as an hour toward your Community Service Requirement.

Review over the Community Service Requirement that was assigned during the beginning of the school year and each quarter this year. Read and make a copy of any additional log sheets you may need to record your hours. You may also need to make a copy of the questions that need to be answered in order to earn a full 100 points for the project. If you have your own log sheet already filled out, take a picture and save it in your google drive, then answer the questions on the service log sheet and upload and turn both in to this assignment for review and final grading. You need to ensure the hours log and the questions are answered and both need to be turned in for full credit. This was discussed in our Zoom Class Meeting so please email me if you have any questions before turning in this assignment. This assignment is due on Friday May 29th but if you need more time email me as soon as possible.

Read through and use the Civil War Notes along with your own research to help you with material to create your Civil War Choice Board assignment. When you have completed it, attach what you created and then turn it in here.
This assignment is worth 50 points!

Open and view the CIvil War Political Cartoon assignment. Study the Political Cartoon and then try your best to answer the five questions thoughtfully. You may use the Digital History link to help you.

Complete the five questions after viewing the political cartoon and video on the link provided in the Civil War Political Cartoon Analysis. Make sure to turn this assignment in for credit.

Read through the Civil War Battles Part I and 2 for a quick summary and important information about the Civil War, then complete the assignment after watching the video linked in the America the Story of Us assignment. When you have filled in each question to the worksheet turn it in for credit. We will be going over this assignment during our next Zoom classroom chat so be ready to participate and share. Email me with any questions you may have.
The video is 44 minutes in length. You can turn on the captions in the video and pause as needed to help you answer each question.

Complete the following by answer each question on the worksheet provided. Then turn it in for credit

1) Read pages 370-371 and 375 from your history textbook to answer questions 1-5. Then review the linked Abraham Lincoln Slides to answer questions 6-11 on the assignment worksheet provided. I have also linked Abraham Lincoln’s Inaugural Address. Try your best to read through this Primary Source to get a feel for Lincoln’s message to the nation on the Eve of Civil War.

Complete the discussion questions in the worksheet from the video. You will also need to use the video guide worksheet linked to answer the primary source questions in part II. Then for a challenge, there are extra credit/extension activities for those that would like a further study.

Read through the Personal Journal assignment that is attached.

Due Monday March 30th and worth 100 points students will create a Dime Novel representing their character's simulated experience along the Trails to the West incorporating all resources and fates experiences during the three week simulation.

Make one copy in your group of the Abolitionist Activity and share with each other giving editing rights. When complete, the same person who created the copy will turn it in for the group to get credit.
Use the Abolitionists Activity Information to help you answer your questions on the Activity.

Choose one person in your group to make a copy of the War of 1812 WebQuest assignment. Share with editing to the other members of your group. In your new copies document, divide and list in each part (I ,II or III) who each person has been assigned to each part. That is how you will individually earn credit for this group collaborative webquest assignment. This is due on Friday. Late work received will earn a deduction in points.
If you would like a printed copy of this assignment see me in class or you can print from home or the library.
All work must be turned into google classroom for review and credit.

Follow the instructions in the assignment and once complete submit for grading. Use the blank google doc to complete your invitation. (Use the Founding Fathers at Work cartoon and information sheet you filled out in class yesterday to help you complete this assignment.)

You may use your created flash cards and the problems with the Articles of Confederation notes page on today's assessment test. Read each question carefully and choose the best response.

You and your partner will be assigned a excerpt or two from the Declaration of Independence. Follow the instructions, complete the graphic organizer, and complete the summary draft response. Be prepared to share out.

Follow the instructions in the quiz writing prompt, complete the extended writing paragraph, submit and turn in your quiz when finished.

You and/or your partner will have a few days in class to research and create an illustrated timeline using 16 events that caused the American Revolution. You will include information on each event to make a claim and provide evidence to why the event caused the revolution. You can choose to complete this assignment:
1) on paper
2) using an online source (google slides, world book timeline creator, prezi, etc)

Use the research links to complete the map on the 13 colonies.

You will earn 10 points a week for transferring the day to day agenda from the board daily to your Binder Reminder. I post the weekly agenda every Monday. Subject to change so the Binder Reminder will have the most accurate information of what we did in class from day to day.
