7th Grade Life Science (Period D) Assignments

Study for Friday's Body Systems Test. Use your Body Systems Practice CER (p. 34) to help you with Friday's CER and review the structure and function of each system in your interactive notebook. Remember the Big Idea:

Disciplinary Core Idea (DCI) MS-LS1-3. Use argument supported by evidence for how the body is a system of interacting subsystems composed of groups of cells.

Just Breathe: Finish Activity Extensions Questions #1-6 in complete sentences. Use asthma, cystic fibrosis, SARS, or a respiratory condition you wish to investigate on your own.

Interactive Notebooks will be graded on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. Refer to your Grade Report Sheet on page 14 to double check that you have all pages completed.

Your Body System Project group should be ready to present on Wednesday, January 22. Not all groups will be called each day this week, but you should still be completely finished by the end of class on Tuesday, January 21. 

Bodies and Systems (p. 97) Read and annotate the article. Fill in the Levels of Organization Flow Chart on the back page.

BPop Body Systems Worksheet (p. 99). Remember to name the two systems and give the reason for your choices.

Cell Structures Worksheet and Graphic Organizer (p. 89)

Remember to finish your packet from when the sub was here on Monday and Tuesday. Remember to pop the stapled pages apart and glue Discovering Cells on page 85 and Looking Inside Cells on page 86 of your interactive science notebook to make them easy to stamp tomorrow. Tomorrow we will also finish our foldable that I collected today.

Interactive Science Notebooks will be collected on Thursday, November 14th.

Make sure that even when there is not a specific homework assignment that you are reviewing and completing any work you did not get done in class. Your notebook should be complete through page 71 except for the Now I Think on several probes. 

Reread and annotate the article Carbon Cycle Reading (INB p. 67) that I read aloud to you and explained in class today (Wednesday). Finish the Reading for Meaning (INB p. 68)  chart with either evidence for or against the statement in the center column. Make sure you write the paragraph number as well as the sentence from the article as we modeled in class today. 

Make sure you have read and annotated the two review articles from last week and answered the review questions in complete sentences. I will be stamping the following on Friday, October 11:

Article Food Chains/Webs (INB p. 48) Review Questions #1-3

Food Chain and Food Web Questions (INB p. #41) #1-10. Use the article on page 41 and your knowledge based on activities we have been doing in class the answer the questions in complete sentences.

Today in class our counselor, Ms. Roth came to discuss how you earn or lose credits in class and how to be successful in junior high. Please share the paper you filled out with her today with your parents. You signed your name, and please have your parent or guardian also sign it. I have attached an extra copy of the letter in case you want to keep a copy for your records at home, too. We will glue it in on page 33 of your Interactive Science Notebook. Thanks!

Identifying Ecosystems (p.35) Answer Questions #1-2 in complete sentences.

Article: Characteristics of Living Organisms (p. 30 in your INB). Read and annotate the article. Summary and Lesson Review Questions (p. 31 in your INB) Answer Review Questions # 1-5 that are listed after the Lesson Summary on the half sheet you glued in on page 31.  Make sure you answer in complete sentences for credit. The homework will be stamped on Thursday.

Abiotic/Biotic Scavenger Hunt (p. 11 in your INB). Please complete your chart we started in class today. After tonight, you should have pages 1-11 in your Interactive Notebook (INB) complete. If you did not finish the Characteristics of Life Rotation Stations, Wednesday, September 4th Homework Club after school will be the last day to make the observations.  

Please take your Course Orientation home today and read it over with your parent or guardian.  After you have read it, please sign the back page and have your parent/guardian also sign the back page.  It is due on Friday, August 23rd. Thank you.
