Due to the planned Southern California Edison (SCE) Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event that may affect Sierra Vista JHS and neighboring areas scheduled for October 10, we will be conducting a Special Minimum Day schedule. School hours will be a normal minimum day schedule 7:45-11:35 am. Please make arrangements for your student to be picked up or get home after dismissal at 11:35 am. See the minimum day schedule attached to the accompanying email.
There still may be outages strictly related to weather and high winds, unrelated to a PSPS. If the power does go out during the school day, the school will go on as usual until the 11:35 am dismissal.
Your student’s safety is our first priority, please understand if the power does go out, the staff will be here to care for your student’s needs. Also, if power is out, phones, WiFi, and possible cell towers may not be operational. Students will remain on campus until dismissal at 11:35am. Staff will continue to be on-site through normal business hours to support students as needed.
We understand PSPS actions could be disruptive to communities and we do not take these decisions lightly. Please note that weather conditions can change, which can affect the timing and duration of an event.
SCE wants you to be prepared if it needs to initiate a PSPS. You can learn more about PSPS at sce.com/psps.
