Welcome to Sierra Vista Junior High School, home of the Plainsmen! As a professional staff, we stand committed to ensuring that all students will achieve academically and personally in a safe and supportive environment. Our award winning faculty and staff strive to make this vision a reality every day as we support our students to ensure they feel valued and respected, both academically and emotionally. Our staff is dedicated to continually working to improve in an ongoing effort to better serve our community and school.
We understand these formative middle school years are vital to shaping the 1100 students we serve daily in grades 7-8. Our commitment to ensuring that all our students will learn has been demonstrated by our annual student academic performance growth and was validated in 2013 with our California Distinguished School recognition. We also were recognized as a California Gold Ribbon School in 2017 for our outstanding support for students and promoting their interests in future careers through our elective offerings. Since 2015, we have annually been recognized by Educational Results Partnership as a Star Honor Roll School for our ongoing efforts in closing the achievement gap and increasing academic proficiency for all students. Our staff is dedicated to providing all students will an innovative academic program that embeds the Common Core standards. OurSV students have access to a strong core curriculum, exploratory options which permit students to experience a variety learning opportunities, and our nationally recognized physical education department. We are committed to working to meet the individual learning needs of every student on our campus. We work to ensure they are prepared with the essential skills necessary for their transition to high school and beyond. We are confident our students will continue to be successful and prepared for their futures as we focus on embedding communication, creativity, collaboration and increase critical thinking into all our classrooms through a relevant cross curricular curriculum that embeds literacy and math skills and ensures active engaging lessons based on high quality teaching strategies.
We encourage parent and community involvement. We believe that as a collaborative team made up of dedicated staff, teachers, parents, and students we can work as partners to create the best educational environment for all! We encourage parents to get involved in our Parent Advisory Council, District Council, English Language Advisory Committee, Parent Volunteer Committee, and our vital fundraising efforts. We always welcome parent and community volunteers. We appreciate all your time and support in assisting our students in the learning process and junior high experience. Please take the time to explore our website and review our parent newsletter to explore ways to get involved and to better communicate with our staff.
We are very excited for this school year! At Sierra Vista, we believe every student has the opportunity to succeed! Our students’ academic achievement, personal growth, and safety are our highest priorities at Sierra Vista.
