Congratulations to the FALL 2020 Honor Society Members!
*Incoming 7th graders who are interested in applying for Honor Society, can do so in the Spring 2021 semester. Make sure you work hard to maintain a high GPA, and don't forget that you can start working on service hours now (see additional service hours info below)
IMPORTANT INFORMATION/DUE DATES!
FALL 2020 (8th Grade only) Applications info- Due to current circumstances/distance learning, as long as you maintained the minimum required GPA last semester, and you submit your ONLINE application by the deadline, you will be accepted as a member for the FALL 2020 semester's honor society. Once we return to on-campus learning, you will need to submit your $5 dues to the ASB office/Mrs. Nelson. ***Community Service hours, (for FALL 2020 Semester only) will not be required, but are highly encouraged as "service" is a major component of what Honor Society represents (and it's great for College applications).
ALL Community Service HOURS- All 7th & 8th graders who are interested in applying for the Spring 2021 semester should definitely start completing hours because you will be required to submit 10 hours of community service with your Spring 2021 application in February. ***Activities that would typically deemed "unacceptable activities" for service will be considered (within reason), as long as you are going above and beyond to help others.
Stay @ Home SERVICE ideas/suggestions:
- Help an elderly neighbor with chores, grocery delivery, dog walking, or write letters of encouragement for those confined to their retirement homes (they are lonely, and need to know they that someone is thinking of them).
- Prepare/Deliver Meals to friends/neighbors who are essential workers (nurses or doctors) or help them with chores/errands.
- TUTOR friends/SV students (maybe seek the help of a teacher who is comfortable on ZOOM or google meets). There are A LOT of students who are missing their teacher/classroom environment...and this is a way you can really support your friends/classmates. This could even work with younger siblings/family members.
