Grades, Credits and Promotion Information

Grading and Report Cards:
All Grades and Report Cards are on Infinite Campus:
  • Progress reports for all classes post at the midpoint of the quarter, 5 weeks. These include important information/comments from the teachers about your students progress.
  • Final report cards occur at the end of each quarter when grades are final.
  • Final quarter grades and credits recorded on a students school transcript.
  • You should review your child's progress on an ongoing weekly basis using the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

If a student receives a fail in 2 or more classes in 7th grade, They should plan to attend summer school to make up the missing credits. There is no way to make up for lost credits during the regular school year. At the end of 8th grade, students who do not meet the minimum 107.5 credits need to attend summer school and are non promoting.

 GRADING SCALE

Credit information and promotion to high school
  • All students are enrolled in six classes during each of four quarters.
  • Each class earns 2.5 credits if a student earns a grade of “D” or better at the end of the quarter.
  • Each quarter a student should earn 15 credits.
  • Students should earn 60 credits per year and 120 credits by the end of 8th grade.
  • 107.5 minimum credits must be earned for a student to be eligible for participation in eighth-grade promotional activities and promote to high school.
  • A student can make up lost credits in summer school. During the school year, there is no opportunity for credit recovery. It is very important students focus on making sure to pass all classes and earn needed credits during each quarter of the school year.

What about Graduation? There are not promotion ceremonies for eighth-graders moving to high school in the Hart District. We plan several activities for the 8th-grade students to celebrate their successful completion of junior high and their promotion to high school. Graduation ceremonies are limited to High Schools in the Hart District.
